The Simple and the Complex
A whole lot behind just a pair of shoes
This is the start. Of something simple, something easy. All I need is a pair of shoes.
And this is where it leads, eyes are opened to a new culture, a new thing. Goals, races.
As I matured in the endeavor, I added complexity, both mentally and physically. So now I have goals. And Spreadsheets, and Apps to track progress.
Then there’s tech. Gadgets for accumulating data, providing entertainment on longer efforts.
And then there is this. More specialized, even more nuanced. Carbon plates, Surface specific treads. Trail. Road. Snow.
So my mileage goes up, and suddenly there’s a need to develop strength. To get better, to over come injury. Supporting activities are now part of the routine. Strength, flexibility, facia treatment. Range of motion.
And there is Diet.
And prioritizing Recovery. Naps even.
And absolutely this. The solution to pollution is dilution. For recovery, for cell health. I know I am well hydrated if I have to get at least once in the night.
Treatment, diagnostics, monitoring are part of the plan as well. For this image, I’ll just shout SCIENCE!!!
I get asked all the time, “How do you do it”, when someone hears what I am attempting at my age of 66. It’s hard to explain all of this above. Everyone see’s this below, the shoes, without seeing everything behind it.
Some days, it really just this easy. And it’s what all the other stuff is all about.
